Recognized by CertNexus, SAS, Cisco Networking Academy, and ISTE, the program has also been evaluated by ACE for college credit — three credits per exam passed.

Pearson IT Specialist exams validate entry-level IT skills for learners about 14 and older — typically after around 150 hours of instruction and hands-on practice. Each exam stands on its own and can be stacked. NEXERA Institute delivers them through our authorized Certiport center.

Exams are vendor-neutral and have no degree prerequisite beyond the published objective domains. As of 18 June 2025, IT Specialist exams expire five years after the issue date. Python is offered in two Compass versions that share the same objectives: selected-response, or selected-response plus performance-based tasks. Lengths, languages, accommodations, retakes, and proctoring are defined by Certiport and Pearson.
